The Fight for Democracy’s Champions of Change Gala will be held on April 25, 2025, at The Bell Tower on 34th at 7 PM. It will be a night dedicated to celebrating those who have fearlessly fought for progress, justice, and empowerment.
This black-tie gala will bring together national leaders, advocates, and changemakers for an unforgettable evening. It is more than an event—it is a movement. It is a night to recognize those who have used their voices, platforms, and power to protect democracy and advance justice.
Keynote Speaker
Dr. Freddie Haynes
Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III will join the Champions of Change Gala as a special guest speaker. A visionary pastor and passionate activist, Dr. Haynes has led Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas for over 40 years. A tireless advocate for racial and economic equity, he has built powerful coalitions to fight systemic injustice. During President Obama’s administration, Dr. Haynes was frequently invited to the White House to speak on critical issues including civil rights, voting, and economic empowerment.

Roland Martin, an award-winning American journalist and media trailblazer, brings a powerful voice to the Champions of Change Gala as the keynote speaker. With a distinguished career spanning TV One, CNN, and his own digital news platform Roland Martin Unfiltered, he has shaped national conversations on politics, culture, and justice. His legacy of impactful journalism and unapologetic truth-telling continues to inspire a new generation of changemakers.
